Club Atletico Saint Louis Kicks Off 2024 Season with Player Search

The 2024 season is underway for Club Atletico Saint Louis, as they kicked off their player identification process this weekend. Twenty-five players will advance to the second round of open tryouts, with the final selection coming after a friendly match against another local semi-pro team next month.

Coach Ricardo Garza was impressed with the talent on display, saying, "I am proud of the high level of players we saw this weekend." He explained the team's strategy: "Last summer, we prioritized keeping U21 players on the MWPL U21 team to prepare them for the 2024 season. The NPSL U23 team was strategically composed of older players to mentor the younger athletes and introduce them to the Club Atletico culture."

Looking ahead, Coach Garza emphasized the focus on youth development: "With several NPSL players moving on, the 2023 MWPL group is ready to step into the NPSL U23 team for the 2024 season. This allows Club Atletico to continue its mission of nurturing the next generation of talent through the MWPL roster."

This summer, fans can expect to see fifty players, two different teams and levels, showcasing Club Atletico's commitment to both competitive success and player development. Come out and experience a great brand of soccer as these young athletes work together to represent the Saint Louis community.
