Chase Niece heads home to FC Dallas

Chase Niece is headed home to FC Dallas after being selected in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft.  Chase played CDM and CB during the last season of Club Atletico Saint Louis.  The 6-foot-2 center back played four seasons with SLU, starting 51 games and scoring six goals. He, along with fellow FCD draft pick Isaiah Parker, led Saint Louis to the NCAA quarterfinals and a 16-1-4 record. Niece was named to the A-10 All-Championship team in 2021.

“Chase was a good defender for Saint Louis,” said Estévez. “He understands the game very well, very calm with the ball and smart tactically. He’s smart and intelligent in his movements and that can help us.” -Nico Estevez, FC Dallas Head Coach

"Chase was a versatile player for us, he played in the back and at CDM.  Chase had the determination to become a professional player.  His character and talent is what we look for in a developing player. We have been a stepping stone for young talent and that is what we believe our role in the St. Louis soccer community is right now.  Our relationship with SLU is great and we are happy to provide a platform for area players to keep their fitness, and mental focus sharp throughout the summer. Local players from SIUE, Maryville, IUPUI, Akron and Indiana are more programs we have had representing our summer rosters. But, we also have players from all divisions in our summer program.  We hope the soccer community identifies our goal is to give faith and trust in young 18-20 year old players and give them exposure along with game minutes to truly develop.  The NPSL level is very competitive and I believe it is a great path to pro for the right dedicated player."  -Ricardo Garza, Club Atletico Saint Louis Head Coach

Chevaughn Walsh was the first Club Atletico Saint Louis player to land a professional team in the previous season of Chase Niece.
